Mr. Tint CC Consumer Protection Policy
Effective Date: 01 August 2025
Introduction
At Mr. Tint, our commitment is to provide high-quality window tinting services and products with integrity and transparency. This policy outlines our commitment to our customers’ rights, as protected under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) 68 of 2008. We believe in fair, honest, and ethical dealings at all times.
- Right to Fair Value, Good Quality, and Safety
- Quality of Service and Products: We guarantee that all window tinting services will be performed with due care and skill, and that the products used (window film, adhesives, etc.) are of good quality, free from defects, and fit for their intended purpose.
- Safety Standards: All vehicle window tinting will be performed in strict adherence to the National Road Traffic Act (NRTA) and its regulations, specifically ensuring Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) levels meet legal requirements (70% for windscreens, 35% for other windows). For flat glass installations, our work will comply with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and National Building Regulations.
- Implied Warranty: We provide an implied warranty of quality on all goods supplied and services rendered for a period of six months from the date of completion. This warranty covers any defects that may arise from the installation process or the quality of the product itself, such as bubbling, peeling, or premature discoloration.
- Remedies for Defects: Should a defect arise within the six-month warranty period; the consumer has the right to request that we either:
- Repair the defect at no cost.
- Replace the defective part of the service or product.
- Provide a full or partial refund, depending on the nature of the defect. Note: The choice of remedy rests with the consumer.
- Right to Information in Plain and Understandable Language
- Quotes and Pricing: We will provide a detailed, written quote before commencing any work. This quote will clearly state the scope of work, the products to be used, and the total cost. The final price will not exceed the quoted amount without the consumer’s prior written consent.
- Product Information: We will provide clear and accurate information about the window films we use, including their VLT rating, solar performance specifications, and manufacturer’s warranty.
- Terms and Conditions: All our terms and conditions, including this policy, will be available to the consumer and presented in a clear, simple, and easy-to-understand format.
- Right to Fair and Honest Dealing
- No Misleading Conduct: We will not engage in any marketing or sales practices that are misleading, false, or deceptive. Any claims made about our products or services will be accurate and substantiated.
- No Coercion or Undue Influence: We will not use any form of coercion, harassment, or undue influence to pressure a consumer into a transaction.
- Fair Cancellation Policy: Should a consumer need to cancel a booking, we will handle it fairly. Our cancellation terms will be clearly communicated and reasonable.
- Right to a Sales Record
- Invoices and Receipts: Upon completion of a service and payment, we will provide a comprehensive invoice or receipt. This document will include our business details, the date of the transaction, a clear description of the goods and services provided, and the total amount paid.
- Handling of Complaints and Disputes
- Communication: We encourage customers to contact us immediately should they have any concerns or complaints about our service or products.
- Resolution: We are committed to resolving all complaints promptly and fairly. Our goal is to find a satisfactory solution for both parties.
- Escalation: If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, the consumer has the right to approach the National Consumer Commission (NCC) or an alternative dispute resolution agent.
- Limitation of Liability
- This policy does not limit or exempt us from any liability to the extent that such a limitation is prohibited by the CPA or any other applicable law.
- We will not be held liable for damage caused by pre-existing conditions (e.g., chipped glass, existing scratches) or for damage resulting from consumer misuse or neglect of the tinted windows.
